In this chapter, Holden buys a book and a new hat. The hat represents when Holden is scared and it is kind of his security blanket. A boy named Ackley starts to bother Holden and wouldn't let him read his book. Ackley starts to pick stuff up around his room and starts to move it. He is distracting Holden and won't let him read his book. Ackley finally leaves because Holden's roommate, Strandlater, walks in, and Ackley doesn't like him.
I wasn't really interested in this chapter because nothing that exciting happens. I think that it will get more interesting. This chapter was probably just in there to show that he got a book and a new hat.
