Holden walks 41 blocks back the hotel, and when he gets there, the elevator man asks if he wants a prostitute to go to his room. He tells him yes. The prostitute goes to his room and all Holden wants to do is talk to her. He doesn't want to do anything. The prostitute gets annoyed and asks for her money and then leaves.
I think that all Holden wants is someone to talk to. He wants someone to talk to so bad, he is willing to pay them.
